An engineering firm hired to assess Blind River municipal buildings

Now that the Town of Blind River has completed its Asset Management Plan (AMP) the municipal CAO wants to have assessments of all municipally-owned buildings to be carried out before the snow flies.

Blind River CAO Kathryn Scott recommended to council Monday night that a master plan for dealing with retrofits and ongoing maintenance will be put into place to guide the municipality through the work, especially if there is another harsh winter like last year.

She pointed out the assets plan is mandated by the province, which will provide funding to maintain various facilities.

Scott says the master plan would become part of the AMP.

Scott recommended the council hire Tulloch Engineering to undertake the assessment with a tender of $115,480.

The money will come out of a $630,600 modernization grant from the province.

Council unanimously agreed and the work will begin in the short term.
