Anishinabek Nation names children’s commissioner

Chief Duke Peltier has been named as the new Anishinabek Nation Children’s Commissioner.

The announcement was made by Grand Council Chief Glen Hare at the Anishinabek Nation Fall Assembly.

He says there are 21 Anishinabek First Nations that Peltier will assist in ensuring the well-being of future generations.

Hare adds in his new role, Peltier will provide oversight over the implementation, compliance and enforcement of the Anishinabek Nation Child Well-Being Law, and the Anishinabek Nation Children and Youth Bill of Rights.
