Anniversary of Constable Marc Hovingh’s passing

The policing and immediate family will be hosting a private gathering to remember the late Manitoulin OPP Constable Marc Hovingh today.

Hovingh was killed in the line of duty in Gore Bay one year ago today. 

Fellow officer, Constable Marie Ford says the private gathering will include OPP, United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin, and Wikwemikong police services. 

She extends a thank you to those who have provided support throughout the year adding Marc is missed and will not be forgotten. 

The Township of Assiginack council states with the blessing of his family, people are asked to put a blue heart in their windows today in solidarity with their Island police services.

There will also be a free skate in his memory from 7 to 9 pm this evening in his memory.
