Bishop of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, Thomas Dowd, will be hosting a pastoral week in Elliot Lake.
Dowd says he was appointed as the bishop of the diocese by Pope Francis in December of last year and due to COVID, he has not been out in the member communities as much as he would like to be.
Dowd says he will be meeting with church leaders and congregants on a visit to Elliot Lake in mid-November.
He adds he recognizes there are many issues to be discussed, including focusing on Truth and Reconciliation, and he is especially pleased that Pope Francis is coming to Canada to address the issues.
Dowd adds the schedule for his visit is in the process of being finalized and will be released to the public next week.
