Bishop Thomas Dowd of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie wrapped up his pastoral visit to Elliot Lake promising to return.
Dowd told The Moose this was his first pastoral visit since he was appointed by the Pope last fall.
He says he thoroughly enjoyed his visits at city hall, the hospital, and for the first time, with the children at the school.
Having taught older students in the past, he was delighted with meeting the much younger students who were simply joyful.
Bishop Dowd says he plans more visits to other communities and a return to Elliot Lake, since he will complete a report about his visit to share with the community in the new year.
