Boil water advisory in place in Westhill area of Elliot Lake

The City of Elliot Lake placed a boil water advisory for the Westhill area of Elliot Lake some three months ago due to low chlorine levels.

Public Works Manager Darryl Halloch says once the lines were flushed in late fall, it was revealed the city had lost its chlorine residual.

He adds after consultation with the Ministry of the Environment and Algoma Public Health, they put the boil water advisory in place for the neighborhood on October 6th.

He says the city is going to install an auto flusher, which will keep the water fresh, but the advisory will remain in place until a more permanent solution is found.
