Conservative booted from party

Eastern Ontario Conservative MP Derek Sloan has been booted from the federal Conservative caucus.

Party leader Erin O’Toole had demanded Sloan’s expulsion after word that he’d accepted a campaign donation from a well-known Canadian white supremacist.

A majority of Tory MP’s voted in favour of the decision.

O’Toole says Sloan was expelled, not just for this one incident, but for a pattern of what he calls “destructive behaviour” over the past year.

He says he wants all Canadians to feel welcome in the Conservative party.
