DIY Natural Deodorant

DIY Natural Deodorant

It has been HOT here lately and hot weather means sweaty, stinky armpits! Over the years I have experimented with many different natural deodorants. I prefer to avoid traditional, chemical-filled antiperspirants that are believed to cause a slew of health issues when absorbed through the skin. This week I’m sharing a simple recipe that I have been testing and enjoying:

Ingredients
3 tbsp Shea butter
3 tbsp aluminum-free baking soda
2 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot powder
10-15 drops essential oils (I like lemon & peppermint)

Using a double boiler, begin by melting the Shea butter and coconut oil over the stove. Once completely melted, remove from heat and stir in baking soda and cornstarch. Let cool slightly and then add your essential oils of choice. Combine all ingredients an pour into a 4 oz or bigger container.
