(ESPANOLA, ON) – On July 20, 2020, at approximately 3:46 a.m. members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a vehicle pulled over on Highway 6, Espanola.
Upon speaking to the driver, officers determined the individual was under the influence of a drug.
Further investigation by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) was completed and as a result of the evaluation, the driver, Hannah HENSHER, 45-years-old, from Sudbury, was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Control Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Police seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be methamphetamine.
The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Espanola on September 14, 2020.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) was issued and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
This charge marks the 23rd driver charged under Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in the Manitoulin Detachment area in 2020.
