An Elliot Lake councilor has been cleared of any conflict of interest in regards to the purchase of the former Algo Mall.
Councilor Chris Patrie had asked for the investigation by Integrity Commissioner Peggy Young-Lovelace.
He alleged Councilor Luc Cyr had failed to declare a conflict of interest during the talks about the purchase of the property.
Young –Lovelace says the investigation revealed that Cyr is one of 300 litigants involved in a law suit against the former owner of the mall, the city and other parties.
In her findings, she states Cyr had no pecuniary interest to declare since the class action has not been settled and no money has exchanged hands.
The findings will be discussed at tonight’s meeting.
