ÉSC l’Horizon students gain valuable expertise in mining

École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron) students registered in the Specialist High Skills Major in Mining recently had the chance to participate in mapping, compass, and Global Positioning System training.

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon communications director Paul de la Riva says the Horizon students worked with instructor Patrick Jutras to acquire certification in this area of interest.

He adds the training enabled them to acquire the skills necessary to prevent, recognize and provide basic care in the event of injury or illness. Specialist High Skills

He says this specialization also helps students focus on a career path that matches their skills and interests while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
