Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possess Property Obtained by Crime

 

Over a two day span on March 21st and 22nd 2018 member of the Espanola Police Service, with assistance from community partners, successfully conducted an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances in the community.  During this investigation Officers seized a significant quantity of Hashish, Marijuana, and Edible Marijuana products.  This seizure resulted in the removal of approximately $20,000 in street value of illicit drugs from the community.

 

As a result of this investigation Police arrested and charged two adult males and one male youth with 7 counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, 1 count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.  One of the men is currently on outstanding charges for trafficking offences, and was held for a bail hearing.

 

Under our current Business Plan 2016 – 2018 the Espanola Police Service is committed to reducing the availability and impact of drug activity within our community, through drug enforcement and reduction strategies.  Proactive enforcement action is an effective strategy for accomplishing these goals and removing drugs from our community.
