Democrats in the U-S House of Representatives could vote as early as today on a resolution to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time.
They charge Trump with violating his oath of office, for urging demonstrators to take action to oppose the certification of the election results in Congress last Wednesday.
Six people died in the storming of the Capitol building last week, including two police officers.
The move comes after Vice-President Mike Pence refused to consider removing Trump from office.
The U-S constitution allows the Vice-President to take over if a majority of the cabinet decide that the President is unfit to continue in office.
