In Memorium Balls Now For Sale In Espanola

By Rosalind Russell – The Espanola Hospital Auxiliary is selling their in memorium balls once again.
Auxiliary spokesperson, Chantal Lafrance, says the bulbs are available for $10 or $20 each and are available at the hospital gift shop, as well as at the upcoming Christmas Tea, Craft and Bake Sale set for Saturday, December 1st from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Centre.
She says the bulbs come in a wide variety of styles from plaid to glitter to floral to knitted and more. They are all handmade by the volunteers in the auxiliary throughout the year and is one of the most popular initiatives of the Christmas season.
Lafrance says the funds raised will go towards a new important piece of hospital equipment, a new ultrasound machine that has been installed in the hospital.
She adds $27,000 was raised from various auxiliary initiatives in the last year to offset the cost of new equipment and they hope to raise around the same amount through 2019.
Also, to accommodate shoppers, the hospital gift shop will be open a little later in the evenings on Thursdays, until 7:00pm to accommodate people working the day shift.
Lafrance says the bulbs will also be placed on the In Memorium Tree that will be set up at the hospital. After December 22nd, the bulbs can be picked up and either turned back over to the auxiliary or used to grace the trees of the purchasers at home.
