It’s Back To The Drawing Board … Again For Espanola Fire Hall

By Rosalind Russell – Espanola council wants to go back to square one when looking at the design of a new fire hall for the town.
At the last committee of the whole meeting in late March, Councillor Bill Foster, suggested that Fire Chief Mike Pichor come back with a layout for an 8,000 square foot pre-fabricated building.
The new layout would also include Public Work offices and sharing common areas, such as washrooms.
Council discussed the various concepts back and forth, but are rejecting the two-storey concept.
The last engineering study suggested a two-storey building, but Foster says there is simply too much wasted space.
Councillors agreed and Pichor is expected to re-activate his committee and come back to the committee with a redesigned grid layout for a new fire hall.
