MANITOULIN OPP CHARGES DRIVER FOR UNSAFE MOTOR VEHICLE

(ESPANOLA, ON) – On January 12, 2020, at approximately 8:11 p.m. members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic enforcement in the Town of Espanola.

Police stopped a motor vehicle observed to have driven suddenly above the speed limit, and for not sharing the roadway. Upon investigation is was learned the vehicle was not operating in good condition which resulted in the vehicle being towed.

The driver, an 18-year-old from Espanola was charged with:

  • Operate Unsafe Vehicle, contrary to section 84 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

 

The accused was released on a Provincial Summons and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 4, 2021 in Espanola.
