Well-known television host and contractor Mike Holmes will be working on a new technology centre for the Algoma District School Board.
Board communication director Fran Walsh says the board is embarking on a multi-year project to re-design the existing technical shop area at White Pines Collegiate & Vocational School in Sault Ste. Marie.
Walsh explains the completed project will feature a new, state-of-the-art board technology centre, capable of delivering traditional and cutting-edge technology and programming to foster new skills sets required by industry.
TV host Mike Holmes and The Holmes Group will fill a project consultant role.
Holmes says he is thrilled to be part of the project to promote skills to young people.
Walsh adds IDEA Incorporated has been selected to partner as the architectural and engineering services firm and SalDan Developments as the construction manager, in partnership with The Holmes Group, will oversee the project.
Walsh says the board is also establishing an advisory council to support the promotion and development of the skilled trades and technology.
