Save AB Ellis Committee Plans 100 Years Celebration

Despite plans for the wrecking ball, the Save AB Ellis Public School Committee is planning to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
Committee spokesperson, Fred Yackman, says the school turns 100 in September 2019 and the committee wants to acknowledge that.
He says the school is an architectural gem and is not only in, but is, the heart of the community. Re-purposing it for apartments is a viable option, he adds, and the committee continues to fight the demolishment planned by the Rainbow District Public School Board.
To that end, the work is beginning on planning a celebration for the 100th year since the founding of the school.
Yackman adds the members would like the public to step forward to show its support for such a celebration despite plans to demolish the school in 2020.
The committee is looking for public input, which can be shared on their Facebook site.
