Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers braved the elements and held their first fall camp at Chutes Provincial Park last weekend.

Scout troupe leader, Rob Haarmayer, says the youth, girls and boys from Copper Cliff and Espanola, enjoyed crafting rafts and constructing shields based on a Viking theme and floating them down the river.

He adds the scouts went on a hike and also learned knife, axe and saw skills, how to work together in cooking supper and keeping the campsite clean.

Haarmeyer says the skills they learned this weekend will help as they fundraise for FinJam in July of 2022 (an international scouting event in Finland) so keep your eyes open for Scout popcorn, Scout Coffee, a 50/50 draw and even porketta bingo … mmm!
