Sudbury council told region could become a yellow zone

Public Health Sudbury & Districts Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Penny Sutcliffe told Sudbury city council Tuesday the agency has had 186 COVID-19 cases since March but pointed out almost a third of those cases were reported in the last week alone.

Dr. Sutcliffe says that means the district has seen a test positivity rate of 1.3 percent, and a case rate of over 26 cases per 100,000 people.

She emphasizes according to the province’s COVID-19 response framework, the region should be moving into a yellow zone response mode.

Public Health Sudbury and District is still currently listed in the green, but the province could change that at any time.

She did not say if the change takes place if it would affect the entire Sudbury District or just around the city where all but four cases have occurred.
