Swimming advisory issued for two beaches on Manitoulin Island

A swimming advisory has been issued at two beach sites on Manitoulin Island.

Public Health Sudbury and District have issued swimming advisories for Kagawong Village Beach and Providence Bay Beach because there are high levels of bacteria.

Health unit manager, Cynthia Peacock-Rocca, says a swimming advisory is a precautionary notice and anyone going into the water could be at risk of infection.

She says they will continue taking samples and when the bacteria levels return to acceptable standards, the beaches will reopen.
