There are not one, but two serious auto collisions in our local area.

As of this hour, there is said to be a collision near the intersection of Highway Six and 17, which occurred around seven am this morning.
Emergency medical services and OPP are on the scene.
The highway is CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS.
If you use Old Webbwood Road as a detour be aware it is very slippery.
OPP is also on-site at the Old Webbwood Road and Highway Six intersection.

It is not known how long the closure will be in place.

Also, if you are travelling to Sudbury using Municipal Road 55, you may be slowed up.

Police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn said one person sustained serious injuries in the collision, which was called in just before 3:45 am this morning.

She says the collision occurred approximately halfway in between Balsam Street in Copper Cliff and the Big Nickel Mine Road ramp.

She says the roadway will remain closed “until further notice” as Greater Sudbury Police’s Traffic Management Unit investigates.

Police say all lanes have been shut down, both east- and west-bound, on the thoroughfare.

It’s not known how long that closure will be in place.
