There is an app for that – tours of Elliot Lake going digital

Helping promote businesses and highlighting the City of Elliot Lake is the focus on a new app, which is being endorsed by council

Amelia D’Amato, the interim Nuclear & Mining Museum Curator took council on a tour of the new app promoting Elliot Lake and includes historical guided tours, historical images and featuring local businesses.

She says the idea came about because of COVID-19 and its effect on the museum and other local attractions.

D’Amato says the app building company Buildfire was hired in June and is now in the final stages of design of the app.

She says the cost to the city is just over $5,000 with annual fees of around $2,000.

D’Amato points out the app will be available in both the Apple App and Google Play stores free of cost to the users.

Council is looking forward to the launch of the new digital tool with all members endorsing the project.
