TRAFFIC COMPLAINT RESULTS IN CRIMINAL CHARGE

(ESPANOLA, ON) – On Friday December 7, 2018 at approximately 3:37 p.m., officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner on Highway 6 in the Town of Espanola, Ontario.

Shortly after the complaint, officers located the vehicle in the southbound ditch on Highway 6.

As a result of the investigation, 63-year-old Gerald SUTHERLAND, from Nairn-Hyman Township, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, Ontario on February 1, 2019.
