The Township of Baldwin will have an all-candidates’ debate for the upcoming municipal election.

The debate, hosted by Moose 99.3FM – CJJM Espanola, will take place the first week of October.

Since Baldwin’s mayor, Vern Gorham, is acclaimed, the debate will focus on the eight candidates running for one of the four seats on council.

The neighbouring communities of Espanola, Sables-Spanish Rivers and Nairn & Hyman will also have debates that week.

The election is set for Monday, October 24th.

The schedule is as follows: Monday, October 3rd in Nairn, Tuesday, October 4th in Baldwin, Wednesday, October 5th in Sables-Spanish and Thursday, October 6th in Espanola. Nairn and Baldwin will host their debates at their town halls, Sables-Spanish Rivers in the Sandowsky Room at the Massey Arena and Espanola at the Legion hall, Branch #39 of the Royal Canadian Legion. All doors open at six pm, debates start at 6:30 pm. The first hour will focus on the mayoralty candidates in municipalities where there is a race for that seat. The rest of the evening, 7:30 to 9:00 pm will focus on the candidates for council.

Anyone who has questions they would like asked to the candidates, can private message Moderator Rosalind Russell or reach her via email at rrussell@moosefm.com or by phone at 705-869-6397.
