Blind River courthouse to be demolished

By Rosalind Russell-

Blind River council had looked at various options to save the Blind River courthouse building but, in the end, has decided to go ahead with demolishing it.

The building located on Hudson Street was closed back in January of 2020 and suffered severe water damage due to water leaks.

The required remedial work would have cost too much, so council accepted a bid of nearly $398,000 from Beamish Construction Incorporated to demolish it.

Most of the cost will be covered out of reserves.

Council also approved turning the property into green space after the demolition is carried out.
