Blind River Rotary partners for Welcome Wagon initiative

By Rosalind Russell-

Helping newcomers learn about local businesses and services is an important part of the role of the Blind River Rotary Club.

To that end, President Bob McAllister says the club has created a welcome wagon program in partnerships with local businesses, the municipality and services.

He says members sent letters to over 130 local merchants and received some great support with each package containing some 65 items including a welcome from the mayor, coupons, business cards, shopping bags, small gifts and more.

McAllister says there is no charge for any business to be involved, which led to the success of the initiative.

He adds the packages will be distributed to new residents by local real estate agents when they move into their new homes or businesses.
