Cambrian College honours long-time nurse and advocate

By Rosalind Russell – Cambrian College is renaming one of its Health Sciences simulation labs after a long-time advocate for the nursing profession and community living. It will now be known as the Dorothy Winters Health Sciences Lab.

Her son, Jessie, says his mother worked for decades as a nurse and even in retirement, advocated for Ontario Special Olympics and Community Living.

He acknowledges the tribute made to his mother in the college acknowledging the ongoing bursaries the family has provided to the institution over the years.

He adds his mother dedicated her life to serving others, and she instilled in the family the belief that we should also give back to the community, adding he is so proud that his mother’s legacy to health care and community living is being honoured by Cambrian College.

The Dorothy Winters Health Sciences Lab provides in-depth and hands-on learning experiences for health sciences students at Cambrian’s main campus in Sudbury.
