By Rosalind Russell – St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake had to close its third floor due to a COVID outbreak.
Hospital CEO Jeremy Stevenson says the closure comes after Algoma Public Health reported circumstances forcing the closure to all visitors on the acute care floor except for designated staff.
He says it is the second facility operated by the hospital to be closed to visitors due to an outbreak following the closure of St. Joseph’s Manor on October 8th.
Stevenson adds the public will be updated when the health unit removes the orders.
