CSC Nouvelon and CUPE ratify a new collective agreement

By Rosalind Russell – The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (Local 4274) have ratified a new four-year collective agreement.

Board chair Suzanne Salituri says at their schools, CUPE represents janitorial and maintenance staff.

She adds the agreement reflects the desire of both parties to work together and to offer students a safe and healthy environment and to continue offering high-quality services within the schools and support the development and success of each student.

Paul Henry, Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer, says many people invested great effort to negotiate the deal on behalf of CUPE and the janitorial and maintenance staff it represents with the board.

He adds it offers the opportunity to continue working in a stimulating environment, which benefits, not only the students but the staff themselves.

Henry says the contract is retroactive to September 1, 2022, and expires on August 31, 2026.
