An Elliot Lake man is hoping council will be open to the idea of having the city look at a second hotel or motel.
Stephen Calverley says he has written a letter to council asking for a second accommodation choice for the city adding he believes they should consider the former Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre.
The former centre was demolished following a collapse of the roof and earlier this month, the city was turned down for a grant for a community arts hub to be build on the site.
Calverley says a budget type hotel or motel would attract new guests with offering reasonable rates and that could only help build the tourism sector in Elliot Lake.
Council is expected to discuss his proposal at its next meeting.
