By Rosalind Russell – Elliot Lake’s doctors and several businesses joined with St. Joseph General Hospital to make a generous donation to not one, but two schools in the city.
Andrew Chi, the principal of Our Lady of Fatima School says they are sharing $10,000 with Central Avenue Public School with the funds going towards lunch and sports programs.
The initiative is spear-headed by Lynn Blanchette who works as a nurse at the hospital asking businesses and staff to donate toward the local schools.
Chi says the Elliot Lake doctors also match the donation with five-digit donations made over the past two years.
The cheque presentation was made last week.
