By Rosalind Russell – Elliot Lakes’ Huron Lodge is looking for volunteer drivers to keep up with program demand.
CEO Norman Mann says volunteers take care of regular meals on wheels deliveries in Elliot Lake and area, but more drivers are needed for volunteer transportation.
He says the Meals on Wheels program operates five days per week, Monday to Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and delivers hot nutritious meals to eligible clients in Elliot Lake.
Mann adds the transportation program operates seven days per week and provides transportation to and from out-of-town medical appointments with reimbursement of expenses provided through the Northern Health Travel Grant Program.
He says all training is provided through the organization with volunteers providing a current Vulnerable Sector Check from the OPP.
Anyone interested is urged to contact Norman Mann at Huron Lodge by phone at 705-848 2019 ext. 230 to discuss current volunteer opportunities.
