An Espanola judge has fined a Simcoe man for unlawfully hunting big game without a licence and abandoning his kill.

Last month, Espanola Justice of the Peace Lori-Ann Toulouse heard testimony that on October 26th, 2020, Aaron Elyk of Simcoe shot and killed a cow moose near Sables Lake, but he did not have a valid licence.

He then then abandoned the moose, causing it to spoil.

Elyk pled guilty to unlawfully hunting big game without a licence and was fined $3,755.
He also pled guilty to abandoning big game and was fined $11,255, his hunting licences cancelled, and he is prohibited from hunting in Ontario for two years.
