Espanola’s main water trunk line construction continues

By Rosalind Russell – The Town of Espanola has resumed phase two of the main water trunk line from the water treatment plant to the water storage tank.

Most of phase one was carried out last year to install the new main trunk line from the water treatment plant to the intersection of Queensway Avenue and Mead Boulevard.

The work resumes to finish that work, but the second phase to extend the line from the intersection to the water storage tank of Second Avenue is also getting underway.

Phase two also includes increasing the sewage capacity along the line.

Espanola’s largest capital project for last year and now for 2022, the total cost is expected to exceed $12-million dollars as approved by council.

No definitive deadline for completing the project has been released.

Motorists can expect slowdowns throughout the construction period.
