Explosives found at site of Gore Bay shooting

Explosives have been found on the property where a Manitoulin OPP officer and a civilian died in a shooting in mid-November.

The Greater Sudbury Police is assisting the Special Investigations Unit in the investigation of the shooting, which took place in Gore Bay.

Greater Sudbury communications officer, Constable Kaitlyn Dunn says as their Explosives Disposal Unit was called in to remove improvised explosive devices from the scene.

Dunn says the unit is assisting in ensuring the scene is safe and are taking the necessary precautions to ensure the community’s safety as well as officers and investigators on the site.

Dunn adds the Sudbury police continuing working with the SIU, which has taken the lead on the investigation.
