Five fatalities this past Friday in Manitoulin/Sudbury districts

There were five fatalities in the Manitoulin and Sudbury districts this past Friday.
Sudbury Police says around 4 Friday morning a pedestrian was killed on Municipal Road 55 between Balsam Street and Big Nickel Road in Copper Cliff.
Police say the 38-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene and his name will not be released out of respect for his family’s wishes.
Manitoulin OPP say later the same morning, around 7:30 am, there was a head-on collision between two vehicles just west of the Espanola turn-off on Highway 17.
Police say 23-year-old Zachary Duval of Espanola and 62-year old Robert McGirr of North Bay both died in the collision.
Manitoulin OPP and the Wikwemikong Police Service also investigated a drowning Friday afternoon on the North Shore of Georgian Bay.
Police say two people were going out fishing and fell overboard, but one did not make it to shore.
Forty-seven-year old Donald Maiagowi from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The Special Investigations Unit is investigating a fatal domestic dispute in Little Current.
They state on Friday morning, Manitoulin OPP were called out to the dispute and the person was armed and had barricaded themselves inside a residence.
The agency adds when officers entered the residence, they found a man had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
All four incidents are investigation by either the Office of the Chief Coroner or the SIU.
