Five-year-old back in Sick Kids due to lung problems

By Rosalind Russell – An Elliot Lake boy is back in Toronto’s Sick Kids due to lung problems following successful heart surgery in early summer.

Jessie Chetchie Hennessey says her five-year-old Elijah had to go back to hospital following breathing problems.

She says because Elijah’s veins leading into his lungs have had ongoing issues, the left lung has lost one of its two veins, doctors are helping to relieve his breathing.

Hennessey adds they will also be doing Cardiac catheterization, which is a test or treatment for certain heart or blood vessel problems, such as clogged arteries or irregular heartbeats and provides important details about the heart muscle, heart valves and blood vessels in the heart.

She says if those two procedures do not work, the staff will consider surgery.

She extends a heartfelt thank you to the community at large for the ongoing support.

Having been born with congenital heart problems, it is hoped that the latest treatment will bring him back home healthy and whole once again. Photo provided by Jessie Hennessey.
