Governor General Julie Payette and top aide have resigned…

Governor General Julie Payette and her top aide Assunta di Lorenzo have reportedly resigned in the aftermath of a devastating report that found them responsible for workplace harassment of Rideau Hall employees.

The unprecedented resignation of the Queen’s representative in Canada came after an investigative report was submitted to the Trudeau government by Quintet Consulting, a firm contracted to do an independent review of allegations.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau named Payette as governor general in July 2017, and installed her in October 2017.
