By Rosalind Russell – Health Sciences North President and CEO Dominic Giroux says the board is working hard to attract grant funding to expand beds in the hospital.
Giroux says the support of the province is crucial to expand beds and provide more space for different programs.
He says the province has committed $40 billion dollars over the next ten years for hospital infrastructure as part of its 2022 budget.
He says Northerners know that HSN was built too small, so the board will continue talking to the Ministry of Health to secure a $5 million dollar Stage Two planning grant for their capital redevelopment.
Giroux says that funding will go towards the redevelopment of more inpatient beds and more space for mental health and addictions, as well as more space for its NEO Kids programs and patients.
He adds the talks will continue over the coming months.
