Historical Society hosts first annual general meeting

By Rosalind Russell – A history book all about Elliot Lake is one of the biggest focuses for the newly formed Elliot Lake Historical Society.

Interim chair, Edo Ten Broek says the society held its first annual general meeting last night at the Mt. Dufour ski chalet.

Broek says the society is working towards the creation of an Elliot Lake history book to include all different facets of life in the community since its founding in 1956.

The main purpose of the meeting was to also elect a board of governors and to identify and plan the group’s first operational steps.

Broek adds the society is looking for members to assist with research, archiving, marketing, promotion, funding, and membership campaigns.

If you are interested in joining the board, becoming a resource team member or a general member you can contact Broek at vesuvio@eastlink.ca or call 705-849-8106, adds Broek.
