L. U. alumnus receives Governor General’s Gold Medal

An alumnus of Laurentian University has been presented with the Governor General’s Gold Medal Award for academic excellence at the graduate level.

Xuyang Meng received the award for his work in geology.

Meng’s Ph.D in Economic Geology focused on understanding the formation of copper deposits in the early Precambrian eon. 

He says he is grateful for the support and will treasure the award.

He had been nominated by the Harquail School of Earth Sciences.
