By Rosalind Russell – The official host of the Little Native Hockey League, Nipissing First Nation, is reporting they have more than 184 teams registered to play in the upcoming tournament.
Nipissing First Nation Chief Scott McLeod says the tourney had to be cancelled for the last two years to ensure the health of the participants during the pandemic.
He adds with the cancellations behind them, dozens of arenas, hotels and other services are now booked in Mississauga for the tournament, which will be held during the March break.
The tourney has grown from a small Manitoulin area tournament for Indigenous youth held in Little Current in 1971 into a massive event featuring hundreds of participants, fans and supporters.
