Local DSAB looking at a senior housing project in Little Current

A feasibility study is underway by the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board for a senior housing project in Little Current.

Board CAO Fern Dominelli says they have received nearly $657,000 to carry out the project.

He says with a waitlist of at least 22 senior citizens in Little Current, the Northeastern Manitoulin and the Island council believes the project is a good fit for a property donated by the late Lily Fielding in 2016.

DSAB has hired Housing Services Corporation to carry out the feasibility and environmental studies with results expected in early Spring.

The board has $1.2 million at its disposal.

Council is supporting the project and updated reports are expected within the new few months.
