The public is being asked to come out and volunteer a couple of hours of their time to decorate cookies as part of the upcoming Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie Campaign.
Espanola Helping Hand Food Bank spokesperson Grant Lewis says both franchises in McKerrow and Espanola will once again be donating the funds raised from the cookies to the food bank for their fall program.
He says last year, the campaign raised just over $17,400 and at a dollar a cookie, that’s a lot of volunteers helping to frost the iconic chocolate chip treat.
Lewis says individuals can sign up to volunteer for a minimum two-hour shift between September 19th and the 25th.
He adds the food bank is also taking pre-orders to ensure everyone gets their tasty treat.
If you are interested, please phone 705-869-5798 and they will try to fit a two-hour slot that suits volunteers. They start at 9:00 am and end at 3:00 pm.
