Manitoulin Health Centre appoints new Chief of Staff

By Rosalind Russell – A former Chief of Staff is returning to the position for both the Little Current and Mindemoya sites of the Manitoulin Health Centre.

CEO and president, Paula Fields says the board is happy to announce that long-time physician, Dr. Stephen Cooper, is returning to the position having provided decades of experience on Manitoulin Island.

Dr. Cooper has been a part of the Manitoulin team since 1992 saying he is blessed with amazing colleagues, medicine that is engaging and appreciate patients, all great reason to continue to practice on the Island.

Dr. Cooper is also applauded for his work as the former District 9 Chair of the Ontario Medical Association advocating for increased health spending in health care, especially in the North.

Fields also extended a thank you to Dr. Simone Meikleham who provided guidance through the pandemic as Chief of Staff adding she will continue to serve as a physician within the organization.
