By Rosalind Russell – The post office on Little Current’s waterfront is now considered a community hub and to add a touch of culture, Canada Post has erected a Manitoulin Island mural to enhance the building.
Indigenous artist Duncan Pheasant, who hails from M’Chigeeng First Nation, and now lives in Little Current, has had one of his large murals erected at the site.
The piece entitled “We are the Land” was mounted this week and features his interpretation of the outdoors, featuring several large trees in the Woodland style.
Pheasant is well known for his work, which often features an interpretation of Ojibwe legends and stories, as well as the natural beauty of the Manitoulin and his culture.
