MANITOULIN OPP INVESTIGATES A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE

(ESPANOLA, ON) – On December 3, 2020, at approximately 3:41 a.m. members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Espanola.

Officers attended and as a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old person, from Espanola, was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief – Domestic, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Criminal Harassment – Beset and Watch Complainant, contrary to section 264(2)( c) of the CC,
  • Criminal Harassment – Repeatedly Communicate, contrary to section 264(2)(b) of the CC, and
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC.

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date, in Espanola.

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
