(ESPANOLA, ON) – On March 12, 2021, officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Lorne Township.
As a result of the investigation, officers located suspected Methamphetamine, Hydromorphone and Cocaine in the vehicle. Additionally, officers seized the following prohibited weapons:
- Switch blade knives
- Flash-light conducted energy weapon
- Brass knuckles
- Extendable baton
- Pepper Spray
As a result of the investigation, Tracy PYETTE, 29 years-of-age, from Espanola, was charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code (CC),
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the CC,
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC,
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine, contrary to secion 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
- Fail to Remain, contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act.
Trever GILL, 49 years-of-age from Sudbury, was charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC (five counts) ,
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC (six counts),
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the CC (six counts),
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC,
- Posession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
- Possess Umarked Cigarettes, contrary to section 29(2) of the Tobacco Tax Act.
Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of justice in Espanola on April 12, 2021.
