By Rosalind Russell – The Board of Governors at Laurentian University has announced Dr. Sheila Embleton will assume the role of Interim President while Dr. Brenda Brouwer, will serve as Interim Provost, starting January 1st, 2023.
Board chair, Jeff Bangs, says the appointments serve notice that the institution is set to enter a new chapter following bankruptcy proceedings.
He says Dr. Embleton is a proven leader who has built a reputation for transparency and networking, which will be helpful in the search for the right person to fill the position while Dr. Brouwer is an accomplished academic with experience overseeing the expansion of credentials and resources in support of student success.
Bangs adds both women will return to their respective positions of VP Research and Dean of Education and Health, once the two positions are filled.
